Fruity and earthy aromas hint of raspberry, cranberry, cigar box and barnyard.
The mouthfeel is bright and silky, and flavours point to blackberry, sour cherry, plumb, cocoa and tobacco.
Harvested October 7th at the Quarry Ridge Vineyard at sugar ripeness of 20.3° Brix. After stainless steel fermentation the wine was transferred to American oak barrels, 30% of which were in first use.
The wine completed malolactic fermentation and aged for 16 months, before being bottled in March 2016 at 12% alcohol, 4.3 g/l residual sugar, 8.1 g/l titratable acidity and 3.65 pH. Quantity bottled was 420 cases.
Serve with steak, roast beef, lamb, Portobello mushroom or grilled vegetables.
