This expressively fruity vintage offers plum, raspberry, blueberry, clove and peppermint to the nose.
Tasting finds a wine smoothly and firmly textured, with flavours of red cherry and raspberry tinged by hints of coffee and caramel.
Harvested September 12th on our Winemaker’s personal acreage as grape sugars averaged 21.3° Brix. Fermentation in large oak cuves preceded full malo-lactic fermentation and ten months’ ageing in French oak barrels, one-third of which were in first use. At the time of bottling in May 2014, alcohol was measured at 12.7%, titratable acidity at 5.4 grams per litre and pH at 3.5.
Total production was only 147 cases.
