A juicy, fresh texture primes the mouth for flavours of dark cherry, raspberry, tobacco, vanilla and spice.
Picked at Quarry Ridge Vineyard on October 20th as grape sugars averaged 19.8° Brix. These vines were planted in 1972 by the Reimers, Ernie and his sons Robin and Stuart, who tend them to this day.
Vinification: After stainless steel fermentation, the wine was transferred to 18 American oak barrels, of which 6 were new, and 3 older French oak barrels. The wine completed malolactic fermentation and aged for 15 months, before being bottled in March 2019.
At the time of bottling, alcohol measured 12%, 3 g/l residual sugar, 7.6 g/l titratable acidity and 3.71 pH.
Quantity bottled was 470 cases. Enjoy now to 2027.
Try with beef stew, or roasted or barbequed meats. Serve near 14° C.
