A swirl of the glass coaxes dark cherry, red currant, grilled green pepper, star anise and an understated smokiness. Firm, ripe tannins are balanced by spirited acidity. Fruity raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate and pure cherry syrup flavours merge with soft herbal tones, leaving cinnamon spice on the finish.
Harvested at the Wismer Vineyard on November 5th as grape sugars averaged 20.5° Brix. The freshly picked grapes were destemmed and divided into two portions: one to ferment in a large oak cuve and the rest in stainless-steel tank.
Following primary fermentation, 13% of the wine was sent to new oak barriques to age for seven months before blending to age in a mature oak tank. After 16 months in oak, the wine was bottled in February 2021.

At the time of bottling alcohol measured 12.5%; residual sugar 0 grams / L; Titratable acidity at 7.7 grams / L and pH at 3.38.

93 Points, Vic Harradine, TheWineCurrent Alluring aromas leap from the glass after a simple swirl—dark cherry/berry, graphite and grilled savoury herbs to the fore. It envelops the palate with a surge of tangy fruit flavours including ripe juicy black and red cherry, bramble berry and passionfruit decorated with baking spice and sprigs of herbs and underpinned by firm tannin. This is balanced on a pin with acid, tannin and fruit flavour all in sync with each other as well as cabernet franc typicity. It’s medium-plus bodied with good mouthfeel and a lengthy, lip-smacking, mouth-watering finish and aftertaste. (Vic Harradine)
