The bouquet expresses a multitude of sensations: blueberry, grilled pepper, savoury caper and cardamom and earthy charcoal and moss. The mouthfeel is bright and silky as nimble acidity primes the palate for flavours of blackberry, red currant and raspberry butter cream trailing to a swirl of dark fruit, smoke and vanilla on the finish.
Picked at Quarry Ridge Vineyard on October 15th as grape sugars averaged 19.2° Brix. Still tended by the Reimers, this block was planted by the family in 1972.
After primary and full malo-lactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine aged 16 months in American oak barrels, of which 20% were new, before being bottled in February 2021.
Dry:3 g/L sugar
At the time of bottling, alcohol measured 12.5%, 3 g/l residual sugar, 7.7 g/l titratable acidity and 3.63pH.
