2019 Small Lot Chardonnay INSIDERS
91 points, Vic Harradine. WineCurrent
Crisp fragrances of apple slices with cream and a delicate citrusy inference. A mouthful is bright and playfully textured, with flavours reminding of green apple, honey and toasted almond.
Grapes were hand-picked from our original Moira site at average 21.6° brix.
After whole-cluster pressing, the juice finished primary fermentation in stainless steel. The majority of the wine settled and aged on the lees in a horizontal steel tank, while a small remainder was directed to steel barrels. Nine months later, 389 cases were bottled in July 2020.
At the time of bottling, alcohol measured 12.5%, residual sugar 2.5 grams per litre, titratable acidity 6.7 grams per litre and pH 3.29.
Dry: 2.5 g/L residual sugar
This vintage will drink well through 2024.

A lifted nose of caramel, lemon citrus and apple aromas abound. It captures the palate with tang-laden flavours of lime cordial, crisp green apple and ripe pear persisting through the long, mouth-watering finish and aftertaste. This is medium bodied with deft balance, good texture and mouthfeel. The quality-price balance tips well in your favour; give this a go with white, three-cheese (chèvre, Gouda, mozzarella) and sliced-mushroom pizza. Drink now to 2023. (Vic Harradine)
