Winemaker's Notes:
A cornucopia of ripe plum, blueberry, leather, straw and cola make for a fruity, earthy nose with a hint of the “sauvage”. A sip is silky-smooth with medium weight, and flavours of dark field berries, sage, black olive and caramel.
Picked at Quarry Ridge Vineyard on September 22nd as grape sugars averaged 21.4° Brix. The site is still tended by the Reimers, Robin and Stuart, whose father planted these vines in 1972.
Vinification: After primary and full malo-lactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine aged 16 months in oak barrels (of which 88% were American oak, 12% were French oak and one-in-five were new) before being bottled in February 2020.
Dry: 3 g/L sugar
At the time of bottling, alcohol measured 12.5%, 3 g/l residual sugar, 6.6 g/l titratable acidity and 3.72pH.
Quantity bottled was 578 cases. Enjoy now to 2028.
