2019 Genova Gamay
A swirl frees scents of lush red berry fruits, pomegranate, cassis and spicy white pepper.
A taste finds the wine exuberantly fruity, and juicy, with flavours suggesting sour cherry, cranberry and raspberry, leaving a tart, fresh finish.
Grape clusters meeting the Winemaker’s criteria were picked and sorted by hand on the 26th of October. Grape sugars averaged 20.3° Brix.
The larger (70 %) share of the newly harvested grapes was crushed and poured into a limestone-concrete tank between layers of the remainder, which were kept in full clusters. Following primary fermentation, malo-lactic conversion and pressing, 87% of the wine aged in neutral oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel.
After seven months, 94 cases were bottled in May, 2020. Enjoy now to 2023.
At the time of bottling, alcohol measured 11%, residual sugar: 0 grams per litre titratable acidity: 7.5 grams per litre and pH: 3.38
