An affably fruity, spicy nose belies the vigor of this wine. Aromas recall poached pear, apple quince, creamy custard and clove. The mouth, round, rich and creamy, tastes of Pineapple and other tropical fruits, melon and coconut milk, leaving a long, spicy sensation.
The grapes were hand-harvested October 17th from four rows in our Estate Vineyard. These had been left to ripen an additional eight days beyond our other chardonnay, to reach average grape sugar of 22.4° Brix.
The wine was oak-fermented, 30% in new French oak barrels and the remainder in older oak. After primary and full malo-lactic fermentation, the wine rested a further nine months in barrel.
Only 200 cases were produced. Enjoy now through 2027.
