At Malivoire, we like to do things a little differently. The wine road less travelled is something we’ve grown accustomed to taking, knowing it can ultimately be very rewarding.
Looking back, it seems only fitting that we embraced vines originally sent to us in error, to create a new wine. The result turned out to be one of our signatures – the zesty, aromatic white variety known as Melon.
Our original, “happy accident” plantings have increased over the years and for the first time this vintage, we just might be able to supply enough of this rare wine to keep up with demand!
If you are new to this variety, and enjoy the racy, crisp attitude of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, then our Melon is one to try!
Winemaker's Notes
For 20 years our Melon has been relished for its clean, razor-sharp edge.
The nose is tempted by apple blossom, lime, orange zest and other floral and citrus aromas overlaying a trickle of honey. Likewise, flavours are bold and compelling. Green apple, kiwi and mineral tones are direct and lasting.
