2019 Stouck Merlot
Winemaker's Notes:
Layered aromas rouse thoughts of dark fruitcake and plum pudding, accented by raspberry, chocolate syrup, cassis and a breeze of carpentry shop.
With full weightiness in the mouth, this vintage’s dark fruit flavours prevail, adding references to chambord liqueur, blueberry filling and black licorice.
Picked at the Stouck Family Vineyard on October 19th as grape sugars averaged 24.4° Brix.
After primary and full malo-lactic fermentation, the wine was divided to age in one large neutral oak cask and an assortment of barrels, 78% American oak and 22% French oak, one-fifth of which were first-use. After 17 months, the lot was blended, and 103 cases were bottled in April 2021.
