The nose finds a fruity, candied, floral and flinty bouquet; maraschino cherry and cranberry come to mind. With a zesty, clean mouthfeel, Vivant delivers flavours of cherry, raspberry, Bartlett pear, pomegranate and Key lime.
Estate-grown pinot noir was hand-picked at cool daybreak temperature on September 30th, as grape sugars averaged 21.3° Brix.
The grapes were whole-cluster-pressed directly after picking. Taken from the press, the juice was chilled in a horizontal “dairy tank” prior to cool fermentation in stainless steel. The new Vivant was bottled in January 2020.

It envelops the palate with mouth-watering, tang-infused flavours of blood orange, pink grapefruit and passionfruit riding a laser-like spine of tingling acidity. It’s medium weight with good mouthfeel and finishes dry with palate replays—crisp, clean and refreshing. Pour with briny, freshly shucked Malpec oysters dotted with hot sauce, a pinch of horse radish and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Salinity comes across as fine as ever and flavours are really developed. The tell-tale strawberry is there, along with whole cluster actionable gumption that encourages complexities to take this above and beyond simply fruit, sugar and salt. Truly a thirst quenching wine, not a crunchy one but one that you savour, of an interior swirl that coats and satisfies. If ever a Beamsville Bench or any Niagara Rosé were to be considered classic and guaranteed then here is one for the top of that list. Drink 2021-2023. Tasted April 2021.
