Revel in an exotic and elusive nose that shifts from ripe, fruity blueberry to plum, from savoury spicy pepper, to rich vanilla and from fragrant violet and eucalyptus to earthy leather. Medium tannins and bright acidity concoct a mouthfeel that is vibrantly juicy, with red field berry and other fresh fruit flavours on the palate.
Gamay was picked from the Genova Vineyard October 21st and cabernet franc from the Cascade Vineyard; in both cases as average sugar reached 21.6° Brix.
The gamay grape clusters were kept intact for seven days of carbonic maceration, after which it was co-fermented and pressed with the destemmed cabernet franc. In mid-November, the wine was drained to mature oak barrels to age for five months.
After a final few weeks in steel tank the finished wine was bottled in June 2022.
Total production only 295 cases.
At the time of bottling, alcohol was measured at 12%; residual sugar at 3.8 grams per Litre and titratable acidity, 6.5 grams per litre and pH: 3.5.
