#15 - REVIEWS & AWARDS

From its founding, Malivoire has drawn the notice of wine critics, judges and cognoscenti.  Our earliest vintages of Chardonnay and Moira Chardonnay found their way to the cellar at Government House.  British wine connoisseur Jancis Robinson named our Gewurztraminer and Old Vines Foch among the favourite wines she’d tasted during a 2002 Ontario visit.

Our winery has drawn praise for adeptness with its chosen grape varieties…
“…one of the most consistent producers of top-notch chardonnay in Niagara.”
-    David Lawrason
“Others have surely helped, but Malivoire has championed and transformed (Gamay’s) status to prince among kings and queens.”
-    Michael Vaughan, National Post

… for its winemaking precision…
“Malivoire is traditional and innovative in just the right proportions!”
-    Tony Aspler

…and for its style…
“A lot of love and care goes into every bottle of Malivoire wine.”
-    Michael Pinkus
“Malivoire sculpts wines with panache.”
-    Gordon Stimmell.

Recognition has also come in the form of awards.  Malivoire Pinot Noir, Courtney Gamay and Stouck Meritage have achieved Lieutenant-Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Ontario Wine.  We’ve received 19 medals at the Ontario Wine Awards, including Gold for Musque Spritz, Old Vines Foch, Gamay, Small Lot Gamay and Stouck Merlot, and our gamays alone have drawn five Gold Medals at the National Wine Awards.
