With Thanks and Fond Wishes for the Future

Since our founding, being a leader in the advancement of the Canadian wine industry has been at the centre of our intentions.  Accomplishing this has required people who rank among the best and brightest, people of high potential who are attracted to Malivoire not because ours is the biggest winery, but because they understand this to be a place where they can become the best at what they do.  As Malivoire savant Shiraz Mottiar says, “we are very good at identifying great potential, nurturing it, and providing a place to learn, discover and grow.”

In this we succeed, while knowing from experience that this kind of success may come at a price.  When talented people are given the means to demonstrate their proficiency, they attract the notice of the wider industry.  Over Malivoire’s thirty years, people who have built careers here have been offered opportunities to take their expertise elsewhere.

It is with pride, mixed with a touch of bittersweet, that we announce the departures of two friends and colleagues, Vineyard Manager Tristan Bondett and Winemaker Elisa Mazzi. We thank them for their outstanding work ethic, years of dedication, and for always pushing the envelope in pursuit of excellence.

Although we opted not to reveal much about their private lives, a personal sub-plot is true: Malivoire provided more than means to launch their careers.   After meeting here, Elisa and Tristan also became partners in life, and together, have decided to explore new challenges in the wine industry of British Columbia.  Fondly, we wish them personal and professional fulfillment.

As to our own promising future, Shiraz Mottiar, the eminent Winemaker who hired and mentored both Tristan and Elisa, will play a leading role.  Continuity is a principle Malivoire’s reputation rests on, and Shiraz will take back the reins while conducting selection of the new team pilots who will help us accelerate to future vintages.

You can be sure they will stand out, and we hope you will share our anticipation for this next chapter.
