2021 Stouck Merlot

Winemaker's Notes:

Finely concentrated aromas present blackberry, date, kirsch and plum, with trimmings of chocolate, nutmeg and cedar dust.  Hefty and smooth as the glass is tipped, prolonged flavours recall baked dark fruits, hazelnut, caramel and spice.

Picked at the Stouck Family Vineyard on October 21st as grape sugars averaged 22.8° Brix.

Primary and malo-lactic fermentation were completed in mature American and French oak barrels.  From the press, the young wine was returned to barrels, one-third of which were new, to age until March 2023, when 99 cases were filled.

Enjoy now through 2033 and beyond; this wine is built to age.
