Key Leadership Roles Filled for the Future

Malivoire Wine is please to announce a number of leadership changes. Andrea Wilson has joined as Winemaker and beginning with the new vintage now forming on the vine, will oversee all wine production through an exciting time to come in Malivoire’s advancement.
Andrea credits the winery’s reputation for her interest in Malivoire; “...this is a winery that has always taken the craft seriously. I’m bringing everything I’ve learned across four continents to this team.”

Here's what Andrea said when asked 'Why Malivoire'?

Born in Mexico, Andrea holds multiple degrees: B.Sc., Agricultural Engineering, from the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, M.Sc., Viticulture and Oenology, from the Polytechnical University of Madrid, and a Certificate in Wine Business from Sonoma State University.

Andrea’s post-graduate career has taken her from Mexico to the wine regions of Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada, most recently as Winemaker for Flatrock Cellars, before joining Malivoire. In her new role, Andrea will be mentored by vinicultural icon Shiraz Mottiar.

After stepping up for three years to serve as General Manager, Shiraz returns to his first passion as Malivoire’s Director of Winegrowing. Says Shiraz, “I’m excited to focus even more deeply on the direct line between our vineyards and what ends up in the glass.”

Once hailed as Canadian Winemaker of the Year, Shiraz been a leader in the creation of Malivoire’s vision, almost since the winery’s beginning.

Undertaking the challenging role of General Manager is Geoff Kosar, whose many professional accomplishments include Marketing Vice-Presidential assignments at Diageo and Mastronardi Produce, and two years as Wines Category Director for the LCBO.

Geoff is excited by the opportunity to build on the foundation established by Martin Malivoire, lauding as a Canadian wine industry pioneer, who “helped define what serious Ontario winemaking could look like.” Going forward, Geoff says his focus will be “...strengthening the infrastructure, brand presence, and customer relationships.”  Geoff assumes leadership as Malivoire Wine embarks on an ambitious plan to augment its production and hospitality capacities and expand its reach into new markets.

Finally, we are excited to announce that Steve Kornic is promoted to Vineyard Manager. Steve, an important member of our vineyard team for the past eight years, brings hands on experience and many academic achievements. These include a BSc in Biology, another in Chemistry, a Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry, and a PhD in Electrochemistry. Steve has also served as professor at both Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Guelph.
